Lipstick Challenge Day 02

Alright , Day 02 of the Lipstick Challenge.
Well woke up at 7:25 this morning and am completely exhausted .. almost didn't get my ass up for class.
But the righteousness made me.
however took me forever to choose what i wanted to wear which made it even harder to choose a lipstick last minute.
However i chose a Deep Lavender that i think goes well with what I am currently wearing. So applied my lipstick before i left and today i chose to wear a Maybelline lipstick. it went on so smooth and really hydrates at the same time. there were some great colours to chose from... unusual but neat colors none the less.
In the photo its hard to really see the color of the lipstick but trust me its pretty noticeable in real life.

This is the color on... like i said doesn't photograph well :(

awkward picture but if i was to hold my lips up to the screen this is the same color as my lips .. daring -it's true.

Lipstick Challenge Day 01

Alright so boys are growing out their beards for Movember but what about the ladies?
well we don't grow beards.... well we aren't supposed to and if you do go hit the spa and get it waxed so... this leaves us with the dilemma of being left out.
NO not this year bitches.
this year for Movember i will try my best to wear lipstick everyday.
so as today is Nov 1st i commenced my challenge with hot red lipstick :)

alright so something happened to me two nights ago that really made me think.

A wise man once said to me while i was dressed up in costume and wearing red lipstick, "not enough girls wear lipstick for the hell of it" .... it was something along those lines. and well i couldn't agree more with what he said .

it's true, you know back when  my mom was a teenager lipstick was a common thing everyone wore it. However now a days it's all about lip-stains or lip gloss or maybe just Chapstick, i think it's time our generation spiced things up and started wearing it.

I personally will start wearing it more often to see if we can get this movement going, my two favourite colours i own are a dark purple and a "fire-engine" red- Both Lancome : )

So since i've come to school i have dressed up twice. The first time was for an office hoe and Ceos party for which i wore a white shirt, glasses, pencil skirt, black thigh highs and oxfords. 

last night was the second time i dressed up. i dressed up as a Russian spy and wore a traditional eastern european embroidered blouse, fur vest pencil skirt, fur hat, black thigh highs and booties.

have you spotted any similarities ?

it doesn't really seem like there'd be a huge difference but there is.

unsure why but it might be because people think that they should be held up by garters i don't know. however i am concluding that thigh highs are the new bare leg. so go to american apparel and pick up a pair not only will they keep your legs warm but they'll also make you look hot.

Well i am currently going to fashion school and it's good really good. i am learning a shit ton however there's those days when everything seems so repetitive and my head feels like its going to POP off .
some nights i stay up so late, the latest thus far has been til 6 the next morning, i still suck at drawing but my mind has opened up a new canal for free though so thats kind of cool and well quite beneficial cause well i kind of need that if i am to be a fashion guru. (note: i did not say designer, dear people just because you're in fashion doesn't mean you want to be a designer ... thought i should clear that up.)
i want to be an artist, everything here seems so safe and theres days when all these weird creative [slightly explosive] thoughts pop into my head and i wish i could create them but i cant :( cause i'm poor and not smart enough yet ... tragic? -quite.
it's weird you never really realize how difficult creating new ideas is. looking at something and interpreting it a new way has been my recent challenge i'm completely stuck in a rut, fabric helps but i guess all i can hope that things progress positively :)

So i have disappointed myself in exponential amounts lately.
I haven't been blogging because i'm a lazy ass and well because i feel overwhelmed by my surroundings. being so used to everything in my small town know as home it was easier for me to blog because nothing near me changed much and everything in the distant universe changed. however now that everything around ME is what's changing i haven't fully had the opportunity to fully and completely settle myself.
     and well you see this my current main problem is my inability to throw out any ideas for the school paper.. which i do yes infact contribute to.
so with an empty shell of a  mind i am unable to determine my next article topic.. always pertaining to fashion of course.

i have been throwing ideas onto paper however they are all "Needs Improvement" ... not yet worthy of a "Good" .. oh troubling are these matters.

1. Layering

            From tops to socks, layering is everywhere. One of the season’s most popular layering trends has been the one seen on our feet. Layering socks to create a cozy “wooden cabin” feeling worn with heels has taken over the runways. However, not only has this trend proved to be stylish, it has also proven to be quite practical, keeping our feet warm and allowing us ladies to get the most wear out of our summer kicks.

Although men can sport the sock trend, a separate look as emerged for our male companions. Turtlenecks, sweaters and vests are now being worn simultaneously. Emphasizing the fast approaching winter season, this look conveys a manly outdoorsy feel that hardly any girl can resist.

2. Dull colours

            Unlike the neon brights of summer, fall has gravitated to warm dull colours. Grey, beige and camel have proven to be the most popular colours for fall. Giving off a sophisticated feel these colours have been seen on all the runways from Celine to Chanel you can’t go wrong with these understated colours.  

3. 50’s silhouette.

            The 50’s were a time of freedom and femininity, and most renowned for Christian Dior’s New Look. The overall idea of the new look was to have women embrace their bodies and to celebrate the ending of WWII. With the recession losing ground and spirits lifting 50’s glamour is making it’s comeback. Slim and boxy silhouettes have been the craze for men. And for women, feminine, curvaceous and healthy is the new size 0.

4. Tailored outerwear.

            With falls tailored outerwear taking runways by storm women are throwing away their cheap trendy “one season” jackets and investing into luxurious tailoring. Quality jackets, both radiating elegance and status, are being re-popularized and young women are no longer just investing into trends but also quality.

5. Basics

            With the 50’s having an enormous influence on fashion the basics and classics are back. Crisp collared shirts with jeans or khakis have become a girls dream, and dresses and skirts have taken over women’s wear. Returning to the classic femininity of the 50’s era, pants have been tossed aside and the womanly alternative is back and more stylish than ever.   

6. Glamour Grunge

            There’s always more than one popular look for each season, and this season the alternative to the 50’s style is a glamour grunge. Made especially popular by Marc Jacobs; oversized is in. Big knit sweaters with earth-toned lame pants, long hair and bronze makeup have never been so popular. Everybody has their own interpretation of this new look so go find your inner grunge.

7. Wool

            For this season Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors and many other designers have stressed the importance of a good jacket. We are primarily seeing blends of fabrics, specifically Wool, Angora and Cashmere. Luxurious fabrics are being thickened and held together by wool. Wool is proving its importance to this seasons trends and can be seen everywhere from socks to jackets and sweaters.

8. Fur

            Brought back by Anna Wintour in the early 90’s, fur is returning to main-stream dress. It has even been turned into a full white body suit (as seen at the latest Chanel show.) But to you all you vegans, vegetarians and animal activists you have nothing to worry about because the majority of it is faux. It can either be worn in the form of accessories, vests, boots, and of course jackets. Take your pick and have fun with it!

9. Bright accents

            Although neutral colours are all the rage this season, fashion would be no fun without any color. So this fall, when you’re swinging on your camel coat and putting on your grey trousers, think about adding a splash of color to the mix. Reds and purples are especially popular this season, and whether it’s your gloves, scarf, hat, nail polish or purse you’re sure to be looking your best.

10. Oxfords.

            Classic and clean Oxfords are all the rage this fall. With heels or flats and a range of colours, you’ll never run out of options. Consider pairing them with stockings and knee-highs or a pair of jeans and a blazer. Preppy-chic and ladylike is the look these shoes help create. You might feel like a teacher but trust us you’ll look way better. Class dismissed.

Fall Makeup Trendsss

With fall on its way we can’t all help but think about how were going to look.

Clothes, Shoes, Accessories, Makeup.

Clothing has been stressed in all the magazines, Dark Colours with splashes of red.

Heavy knits and grunge making a comeback, loose pants seen in Marc Jacobs with lame finishes.

Glamorous relaxation is all the rage.

Here’s the problem I’ve encountered: what kind of makeup are we too wear with all of the new trends and fashions?

Personally I think lipstick is going to make a comeback Dark purples Scarlet reds and nudes. All worn with Nudes greige [ grey | beige] eyes little to no mascara and a full not overdone brow. Gold will also be making a comeback subtle eyes with a nude lip. Not pin-up gold, black and red; none of that.

Peach cheeks will also become very popular, however blush and bronzer will not be hot on their own they’ll be a combo or none at all.

So i was on Refinery 29's site today and I almost cried when i saw Club Monaco's 2011 Spring collection.
I almost... almost want Fall to go away.

From bed spreads to duvets, dishes and kettles, pots and toiletries life has taken over.

I'm getting all of these things together but i feel unmotivated for school... why ? i don't know, cant really say. Might be because i'm shaking in my un-bought Doc Marten Boots.
I'm not scared of school or living on my own or not having the feeling of my family but i'm thinking i'm more scared of who i'll discover i truly am, and what i truly want to do.
What if we find out everything we ever thought and wanted was all wrong. 
sure it's motivational to say we pick up the pieces and move on but what happens if we discover we can't?Then what?


To be honest i don't know how school will end up but i hope it all works out.
I hope i'm as talented as i think i am and i hope everything isn't all sunshine and rainbows just so i can learn and become motivated. cause as of right now thats my biggest problem.. i'm lazy as fuck.

Minimalist Views F/W 10'

Dear ............. ,

      So if you read magazines you would now that this coming season focus is minimalism. Blah colours and simple, elegant cuts. Camel, grey, beige, white, black , brown and splashes of Red. Mmm very yummy colours. All my favourite colours. Warm colours. they are my favourite  colours because they remind me of wrapping up in a patterned quilt. in a warm Lodge. One with a stone fireplace and bronze grate covering it. 

with a cherry oak coffee table with a big mug-bowl with Chai or Chamomile or Green or White Blueberry Pomegranate Tea. 

and a black cat lying on the top of the couch. An aged Chocolate brown couch with studded arm rests.  and   an ornate wrought iron decor hanging above the fireplace. 

Perfection.

Okay so anyways these colours are key for F/W 10' and frankly i could not be happier to see them on the runway this season.

she was also incredible known due to her feminine style and beauty.

Long blonde hair & Sophia Loren curves "she's the poster child of a real woman."

     After her retirement she became an animal rights activist and vegetarian. she proves to want to make positive changes in the lives of animals however i suppose its difficult for the top world leaders (she requested a meeting with Stephen Harper to discuss seal hunting) to take an ex-actress/model/ singer seriously , however she has proven herself to be devoted to her cause and established The  Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Welfare and Protection of Animals, even selling her own possessions and jewels to fund the project. if you ask me that's a a tough thing for a material girl to do.

However , like everyone , she has her flaws, [From Wikipedia ]  - she's made comparisons of her close gay friends to today's homosexuals who, "jiggle their bottoms, put their little fingers in the air and with their little castrato voices moan about what those ghastly heteros put them through" and that some contemporary homosexuals behave like "fairground freaks". In her own defence, Bardot wrote in a letter to a French gay magazine, saying, "Apart from my husband—who maybe will cross over one day as well—I am entirely surrounded by homos. Okay so recently i've been looking over things .. searching , digging spreading .. just a general rule that i've been curious. curious about things such as well.. everything. looking over websites and blogs & more blogs and picture sites, i've come across alot and well a theme that seems to keep popping up are eating disorders.

what is an eating disorder?

well.. according to my dictionary it is : any of a range of psychological disorders characterized by abnormal or disturbed eating habits (such as anorexia nervosa).

so pretty much you think things that change the way you eat.

that doesn't just mean anorexia, bulimia, trans-eating.. it means dieting too. 

no it doesn't mean your completely psychologically twisted and that you need immediate help.

all that it means is that people should start embracing their bodies.

if you were born a size 8 and your mom was a size 10 ... chances are you'll never be a size two and if you ever are then you've probably done severe damage to your body. 

Note to self : bones that stick out .. they aren't hot - you might want to re-consider.

here's the thing right.. everyone has their own definition of beauty whether it be skinny or fat light; or dark; short or tall. it doesn't matter because what one person characterizes as not being beautiful another might. its personal preference.

so while , for the moment, the majority of those models on the runway are skinny don't sweat it because i bet a good 85 % of the people watching the show aren't the same size and might not even think that its beautiful to look like a starving third world country child. therefore don't sweat it a revolution is on the horizon. one where is skin and bones is out and healthy is the new black.

Feel Good Mantra

Yesterday i read an entire magazine.

Usually, like everybody else, i'll skim through the magazine i'm reading, only stopping at certain pages. 

However i picked up a copy of Women's Health Magazine , the issue with Ashley Green on the cover.

Best decision I've ever made.

It's such a great read.

I learned tons of great shit that may prove to be very useful. 

Pick it up you won't regret it.

But what i'm trying to get to is this. 

Reading this magazine made me feel good. I know it sounds weird but it really is a feel good magazine.

From this magazine came this new idea... a  sort of feel good Mantra.

A mantra is :" a word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation."

It's something you do to calm yourself or make yourself feel better.

That's the idea or the pain point i'm taking away form Mantra, not the repetition of word but the idea of doing something to make ourselves/yourself feel better.

Well I have begun my "Feel Good Mantra"

I'm doing small things everyday that normally i wouldn't do to make me feel better.

In a way it reminds me of the Lululemon bag.

Things like

Putting on Lotion

Wearing a new accessory

Doing Yoga

Running further than normal

Reading a book

Taking a hot bath

Trying something new

Doing something I don't like doing but knowing it's good for me

etc..

Stuff like this makes us feel good, it's weird but we might not not normally do these things and so when we do it feels like we've accomplished something . it's weird - but in a good way.

Uggs will still be popular however i hate Uggs.
The only way i really like Uggs is if you're climbing a mountain or if you wear them with distressed light wash-medium wash boyfriend jeans. Wear them if you must but only some people can pull them off.

Doc Martens - The Classic Boot.
As we saw last season the Leather Jacket became the "Must- Have jacket" . The leather -bad girl image was increasingly popular and everyone wanted the good girl gone bad rep. this coming season we'll see the Doc marten boot making a comeback  it'll be the cherry on top of the bad girl sundae, it'll be what finishes off the look or if worn properly sends it over the top.

What do i Need ?

So lately I've been thinking alot of School. No not elementary no not high school i'm talking about Post Secondary Bitchessss .
Whether it be College or University or Back to High school we're going to have needs so I will be doing a small series on everything you need, from shoes to clothes, beauty and accessories and even home furnishings.
might chose a few others to throw in later but for now those will be my areas of focus .
